How is SkinVive Different From Dermal Fillers?
Hyaluronic acid fillers work by promoting volume in the skin. Hyaluronic acid naturally attracts moisture, which gives it volume. SkinVive by Juvéderm is specifically formulated to attract and retain moisture without creating volume like other skin injection procedures. This makes it an optimal treatment if you want smoother, more hydrated skin without the plumping effect of dermal filler injections.

Your SkinVive specialist will review your medical history during a private consultation. A history of excessive scarring or severe allergic reactions (or multiple severe allergies) may mean you’re not a good candidate – you may also need to postpone treatment if you have any active skin sores such as acne. On average, a treatment session lasts about 15 minutes. And, with minimal downtime, SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is do-it-on-your-lunch-break convenient. Some people may need an optional touch-up.
What to Expect
Your Recovery & Results
Multiple microdroplet injections—where a tiny amount of product is injected just below the skin—are performed on each cheek by a specialist. During your appointment, your licensed specialist will explain the procedure and provide aftercare directions. Lidocaine, a common pain reliever (you get it at the dentist), is an ingredient in SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® to keep you comfortable. Your specialist will perform multiple facial injections in a specialized grid pattern to ensure the treatment site receives a uniform amount of product. Afterward, you can return to your daily activities.
Afterward, you may have some slight temporary redness at the injection site. Minimize strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun or heat, and alcoholic beverages for the first 24 hours. You’ll begin to see improvement in skin hydration and smoothness of the cheeks within two weeks, which will remain for around six months. You can return for another SkinVive dermal filler injection treatment to maintain your results.
