Which Laser Treatment is Right for Me? IPL vs Clear+Brilliant

If you’re looking for a way to fade pigmentation left behind from acne, sun spots or even scars, you may be looking into laser treatments as a way to target these areas for clearer skin. With all of the laser treatment systems out there, it can get pretty confusing when trying to decide which one to go with for your specific concern and skin type. Two of the most popular lasers at MDSkin The Lounge & Bar for pigmentation are IPL and the Clear+Brilliant laser but what’s the difference? Keep reading to find out which system is right for you.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

IPL treatments have been available for many, many years. Safe and effective, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) targets pigment and redness in the skin. There is no downtime following the treatment and after completing a series of treatments, most patients can control their pigment with 1 or 2 treatments a year. This treatment works best on lighter skin tones.

Clear+Brilliant

Clear+Brilliant is a relatively new, laser treatment. Similar to Fraxel, it’s going to target fine lines, shrink pores and help reduce pigment. This is also a no downtime treatment. A series of treatments is recommended and ongoing treatments are needed to maintain results. This treatment works on any skin type.

The Verdict

So which is better? It depends on your skin type and your goals:

  • If your main concern is pigment and redness in the skin – choose IPL.
  • If you’ve noticed that your skin is looking older than it used to – choose Clear+Brilliant.

Both treatments can be performed on the face, neck and chest as well as hands and arms.
